As time moves on we're approaching the point where the last participants in D-Day and the Battle of Normandy are themselves nearing the end of their lives. The era of the living witness will soon be past. It has been an absolute privilege over the years to meet and talk to people who were part of such important historical events. Some became very good friends. The first D-day veteran I became friends with was Tommy Paterson. You can read a bit about him here.
